Love gone sour
Present-day students grew up in an atmosphere that didn't prepare them for the challenges experienced at the University. This has resulted to them tossing themselves into relationships they don't understand if they are toxic or healthful. Most students don't get the knowledge of getting away from a toxic relationship or how to avoid it, for even parents of nowadays don't teach them how. But the most believed reason students staying in a toxic relationship is lack of an exit strategy. Campus students tend to fall in love so much in that even when things have gone astray they can't see. Most of these relationships lead to death in one way or another, either murder or suicide.
According to Self Help Resources(2018) relationships can provide the necessary support to help a student cope with the pressures of school, but can also be a source of stress. It's normal for a relationship to have conflicts now and then but how you handle them can result to a toxic or healthful relationship.
Most students who find themselves in toxic relationships often tend to believe some myths like it's normal, if you love him or her enough it will be over soon, no one can help me-which are all wrong. Students need to be counselled on how to detect that a relationship on fire. Above all they need to understand each other and how they react or behave under certain situations and circumstances. People in relationships should not blame each other on some misfortunes. Whether it's nature or nurture, we are different from each other-men and women despite the latest slogan that we are equal.
Many gender norms among various cultures can lead to gender based violence practices.Depending on the environment one grew on, can turn him or her an advocate of gender based violence like fighting parents, abusive and rough childhood etc.
From origin our brains were wired differently, and we have different preferences, behaviours and perceptions. Partners in a relationship should know how to handle and listen to each other, or we will be burrying victims of love even more and more.We have to end these horror tales that haunt our campuses.
