According to World Bank 75% of Kenya's population is youth and they have the energy, creativity and enterpreneurship skills that can drive and create demand for goods and services especially during this digital economy. Kenya can position itself to benefit from its youthful demographic using the government's Big Four Agenda. When it invests in attaining food security affordable homes, accelerating manufacturing and ensuring affordable healthcare, youth benefit directly.
Creating jobs through manafuacturing will create a demand for food and housing and once a family is started it will require healthcare that meets their needs. Kenya's youth need to inaculate a habit of self dependency. They need to shift from this historical sensatiolization that education will position them in well-paying jobs and understand that education ought to prepare them create jobs by using their creativity starting with start-ups also use their talents to create money things that they are passionate about e.g acting, music or sports.
We need to make youths disagree with the idea that one has to tarmac for a job. One can trust a small scale today and grow it to a point of self sustaining and proffesionally run businesses that create jobs for others. We need to invest the mental retooling of young people so that they embrace skill and knowledge based jobs in the future. This is where the investments that the government has put into reviving vocational colleges will pay off.
Goals of a country are not events, they are a journey of hope that turns a country into a progressive and cohesive one to create opportunities for self-advancement for all citizens. Here goes a call for the national and county government's to collaborate in meeting the infrastructure and policies that will spur investments and open up the country for growth.
